Skin Spots Due to Vitamin Deficiency

Lack of vitamins can cause a range of health complications, including skin problems. One of the prominent skin problems that result when your body lacks Vitamins is skin spots. When left untreated, these problems can become severe and may disturb your beauty completely. So, what are these skin spots and how are they related to Vitamin deficiency:

What are skin spots?

Skin spots are known by several names and are of different colors. From Liver spots to age spots and more, skin spots appear as discoloured or different coloured spots on the body. Depending upon their types and causes, the skin spots may cause itching, irritation, inflammation or other such issues.

How Vitamin deficiency causes skin spots:

Skin spots due to Vitamin deficiency are related to low levels of Vitamin B12 in the body. If the level of Vitamin B12 is less, it affects the production of red blood cells in the body. Also, the nerves in the body become weak and damaged. When left unattended, the deficiency can affect the co-ordination of the body and heart. This induces various bodily conditions and white skin patches are one of them.

As per the experts, a body deficient in Vitamin B12 shows the spots primarily on the forearm as well on other parts of the body. The color of the spots become whiter the longer they stay on the skin.

Eventually, the spots become dry and flaky and finally, you may be able to see red flesh of the skin exposed to the environment.

How to treat the deficiency of Vitamin B12?

The skin problems can become very irritating and painful. It is important that you treat the deficiency first and then the skin spots. The best way to handle the deficiency is to consume food rich in Vitamin B12. Usually, vegetarians or vegans are more exposed to the problem of Vitamin B12 deficiency as the vitamin is found primarily in animal origin items. Taking supplements is the best way to overcome the deficiency. If you are a non-vegetarian you can easily consume meat, pork, eggs, and other non-vegetarian items.

For the treatment of skin spots, it is best to consult with a dermatologist for the problem. The dermatologist will evaluate the condition and prescribe you the best treatment.
